Three Types of Rest I Learned While Traveling in Thailand

I used to think rest only meant sleep. Now I know it can wear different faces.

Here are three types of rest I didn’t know I needed — until Thailand offered them without asking.

1. The Rest of Not Explaining
Sitting quietly at a roadside stall while no one questions why you’re alone.
No small talk. No stares. Just presence.

2. The Rest Between Destinations
When the train stops at a tiny station.
And no one gets on.
And the breeze says: stay just a little longer.

3. The Rest of Letting Something Else Hold Time
Like when tea takes longer to steep.
Or when the fan turns slowly in a quiet guesthouse.
When clocks tick, but no one listens.

Some kinds of rest don’t fix your tiredness.
They just make you feel… not wrong for being tired.

And that alone changes everything.
