Why Thai Parks Always Seem to Have Someone Sitting Still

By Lilly (lover of benches, shade, and soft humans)

You humans like to walk fast.
Tick steps off like checklists.
But in Thai parks? Slowness is part of the architecture.

Next time you wander through one — by the river, under a tree, behind a temple — look for them:

  • An old man with a newspaper he’s not reading
  • A student holding a book but watching squirrels
  • A woman sitting near water with no phone, just eyes

Thai parks aren’t just green. They’re spacious in the heart. They’re not built for doing.
They’re built for being.

No one rushes you out.
No one asks what you’re doing.
Because here, sitting still is enough reason to stay.

Even I — a cat of many alley adventures — like to curl up near these slow humans.
Because something about their stillness makes the world feel safe.

Maybe you should try it too.

Just find a bench.
Stay a while. Don’t explain.

Let the air do the moving for you.
